Introduction
PURPOSE:
The objective of this report is to form an analysis based on the
information systems that are utilized by Gucci. As a group, our goal was to
research the different uses of information systems at the corporate offices. Once
we have determined the different information systems, we will focus on: the
business strategy, the strengths and weaknesses, and exactly how Gucci’s systems
are used to achieve their daily goals. Our team has also provided recommendations
that we believe will help Gucci further better themselves as a company so that
they can improve their utilization of information systems to achieve their organizational strategic goals to the fullest extent.
GROUP COLLABORATION:
Formally
defined, when a group gets together to collaborate on an assignment or project,
it is considered group collaboration. For our team, we provided each other with positive
and negative constructive feedback to help better ourselves as a group and as individuals to
complete a common goal.
Collaboration Tools:
Synchronous collaboration occurs when all team members meet at the same time, such as through a conference call or face to face meetings. The tools we used
in order to communicate with each other while not only working on this project,
but also on other assignments for this class that assisted us in completing the project were: Google Drive, Google Docs, and the Gantt
Chart tool via SmartSheets.
To further
elaborate, Google Drive is free to use by anyone with internet access! It is an
online storage that you can share many things with whomever you choose to, such
as documents, photos, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, etc. It allows the group to store documents
in the cloud for content sharing. One of the many valuable aspects of Google Drive is that
it provides version management control and allows the group to keep track of
any changes that have been made by any of the teammates. This allows the user to go back to earlier saved versions. Version control also has user activity that is selected to be limited by permission, document checkout, and workflow control (this manages activities in a predefined process). The Google Docs tools we used were Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint in order to commonly share presentations, documents, and
spreadsheets with each other so we can all be up to date on the current
versions of our projects.
Of course, we also held face to face meetings to work, brainstorm and collaborate on ideas for our project whether it was before, during, or after class.

Gantt Chart
The image shown above is a
screenshot of our groups Gantt Chart. The Gantt Chart is a project management and collaboration tool. In order
formulate this chart, we used a free website called SmartSheets to create and
develop our Gantt Chart. By bringing this into creation, it allowed us to keep
track of the project through timely task-management. Not only did it make everything
much simpler by having a laid out spreadsheet of tasks that needed to be completed,
it also provided us with a mutually shared calendar of the planned activities
and completion deadlines we needed to fulfill tasks by. The Gantt Chart allowed us to have
control of the project to ensure it was completed by the established due date.
Asynchronous collaboration occurs when team member do not meet at the same time. The tools we chose to communicate with was by e-mail and Blogger.com. We chose to communicate through e-mail because it allowed us to more effectively communicate to the entire group and provided a trail of e-mails that we could refer back to if necessary. We had a continuous thread of e-mails that consisted of communicating with each other in regards to meeting up and working on our project, sending each other documents, and keeping each other posted. It was a very formal and simple way of communicating.
Another form of collaboration our group used was Blogger.com! Which is the current website we are using to construct this blog. In order to successfully construct our blog, everyone was assigned a tab to keep up to date on through the use of posts. As soon as we started working on an assignment in class that pertained to a tab, we would collaborate on ideas and import them onto our blog. As a group, we shared our ideas, inputs, feedback, and thoughts together to complete our tasks in a timely fashion. Before submitting any work and posting it in our blog, we make sure to communicate through e-mail to receive feedback on the work we have completed.
